Tom and Jenny delve into the cult classic Kolchak: The Night Stalker TV series from the mid-1970s, an excellent but short-lived show about a news reporter who constantly stumbles upon weird cases involving the supernatural. It was a massive influence on Chris Carter’s The X-Files.

Bill Cosby, a once-celebrated actor and comedian, has faced numerous allegations of sexual assault and misconduct spanning several decades. Over 60 women have publicly accused Cosby of sexual assault, misconduct, or rape, with alleged incidents dating as far back as the 1960s. Many accusers claimed that Cosby drugged them before assaulting them, often under the guise of offering career advice or mentorship. Due to the statute of limitations, most of the allegations could not lead to criminal prosecution, though they were instrumental in shaping public perception and legal momentum.

13 O’Clock Episode 456: WW2 Serial Killer Marcel Petiot, aka Dr. Satan

Marcel Petiot was a French doctor and serial killer who gained notoriety during World War II for murdering at least 26 people, although some estimates suggest the number may have been much higher. Operating under the guise of helping Jews and others escape Nazi-occupied France, Petiot lured his victims to his Paris home by promising safe passage to South America. Once there, he killed them—often with injections of cyanide—and disposed of their bodies using quicklime and incineration. The gruesome extent of his crimes was discovered in 1944 when neighbors complained of a foul odor emanating from his home, leading to the discovery of mutilated remains. Captured after a manhunt, Petiot was tried, found guilty of 26 murders, and guillotined in 1946. His case shocked wartime France and remains one of the country’s most infamous examples of a serial killer exploiting chaos for personal gain.

Lost media refers to any film, music, or other media that were once known to exist but are now missing, destroyed, or inaccessible to the public. The allure of lost media lies in its mystery, sparking curiosity and dedicated communities that hunt for clues, fragments, or surviving copies. On this wide-ranging episode, Tom and Jenny discuss many examples of lost media, from fun, frivolous stuff like the Toy Story Black Friday cut or that time the Wicked Witch of the West appeared on Sesame Street. We also go into lots of lost media with a much darker history, such as the tape of the death of Steve Irwin, the experimental film of a woman drilling a hole into her own head, the infamous Marilyn Manson “Groupie” short film, and the live broadcast of Christine Chubbuck’s self-deletion.
