13 O’Clock Episode 373: Medieval Torture Methods

Mankind has come up with some pretty amazing technologies, but one depressing aspect of our boundless creativity is that it’s often used for evil. On this episode of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny take a horrifying journey through the Middle Ages, describing some of the worst torture devices ever devised by man, including the rack, the iron maiden, the thumbscrews, the Judas cradle, the scold’s bridle, the pear of anguish (way worse than it sounds), and the breast ripper (self-explanatory). Stock up on painkillers and follow us down to the dungeon on a torturous and terrifying episode 373.

13 O’Clock Episode 372: Poltergeist Cases with an Older Focus

Anyone familiar with paranormal activity is surely aware that in most purported poltergeist cases, there is usually an emotionally volatile adolescent in the affected home who is suspected to be the focus of the manifestations. This is not always the case, however, and there have been a handful of interesting instances where poltergeist shenanigans broke out in a home where no teenagers were present, or where the teenager was obviously not the source of the problem. On this episode, Tom and Jenny discuss a few cases of poltergeist outbreaks where there was no clear focus, or where the focus appeared to be an adult or someone much older than usual. We’ll be covering the Indianapolis Poltergeist case from 1962, the Miami workplace poltergeist from 1966, Don Decker the Rain Man, the St. Quentin case from 1986, and the Atlanta blood poltergeist from 1987.

Tom and Jenny discuss a Z-grade, ecological monster movie from the 1980s, about a mutated creature stalking a small town in Idaho. It was the directorial debut of Jackie Kong, who would go on to direct the 1987 cult classic Blood Diner, and is also known under the title The Pottsville Horror.

On this episode, Tom and Jenny explore a few of the internet’s creepiest unsolved enigmas, including the so-called “most mysterious song on the internet,” the spooky 11B-X-1371 video (aka the plague doctor), and the case of Jack Froese, who allegedly sent a series of emails to family and friends months after his untimely death.
