Anyone with even a passing love of horror movies, especially classic horror, will be familiar with the two titans of British terror known as Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. The two men starred in more than twenty films together and played iconic characters ranging from Dracula to Dr. Frankenstein to the Mummy to Sherlock Holmes to Jekyll & Hyde. They also made hundreds of other films on their own, and though they are revered today mostly for their horror collaborations with Hammer Films and their turns in massive film franchises like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, they also featured in lots of other projects, and their personal histories are just as fascinating as their filmographies. Not only that, but the two distinguished men were also dear friends in real life, and their long and enduring friendship is a heartwarming tale all its own. Join 13 O’Clock as we homage two of the cinema’s most beloved icons on this reverential episode 289.
