13 O’Clock Episode 260 LIVE: Charles Whitman, the Texas Tower Sniper

In August of 1966, a horrifying mass murder occurred on the University of Texas campus in Austin, when a 25-year-old ex-Marine named Charles Whitman — who had stabbed his wife and mother to death the night before — climbed to the top of the campus clock tower and began shooting at random passersby, ultimately killing 16 people and an unborn baby, and wounding 31 others, before being killed by police. A later autopsy revealed that Whitman had a large tumor in his brain which may have accounted for his actions, though this remains unclear. Travel with Tom and Jenny back to this turbulent time on a terrifying and tragic episode 260.
