On this spooky Halloween Eve special, Tom and Jenny discuss some urban legends based around Halloween, such as the many “poisoned candy” scares throughout the years, the supposed Halloween massacre that took place in 1962, a psychic allegedly predicting Halloween murders on various college campuses, the so-called “unfinishable haunted house” (aka The Chimera House), and the rumors about a “clown purge” that started making the rounds in 2016.

Walpurgis Night, celebrated on April 30, is a traditional spring festival in Central and Northern Europe, especially in Germany, Sweden, Finland, and the Czech Republic. Its origins are rooted in ancient pagan traditions that marked the arrival of spring and were associated with rituals to ward off evil spirits. The night was believed to be a time when witches gathered on mountaintops to meet and perform dark rites. The festival later became Christianized and was named after Saint Walpurga, an 8th-century English abbess who was canonized on May 1. Over time, the night evolved into a mix of bonfire celebrations, folk customs, and Christian elements aimed at driving away witches and evil spirits. In modern times, Walpurgis Night is often a festive occasion with bonfires, choral singing, pranks, copious alcohol consumption, dancing, sex, and various forms of public revelry across Europe.

Patti Adkins, a 29-year-old mother from Marysville, Ohio, mysteriously disappeared on June 29, 2001, after leaving her workplace, the Honda automotive plant. She had told family and friends that she was going on a week-long vacation with a co-worker she had been secretly dating for several years. However, she was never seen again. Investigators learned that this co-worker, who was married, denied any romantic involvement and claimed he had no plans with Patti. Despite thorough investigations, including searches of his vehicle and property, no substantial evidence was found to implicate him or locate Patti. Her body has never been found, and the case remains unsolved, casting a lingering shadow of mystery and heartbreak over her loved ones.
