The Unification Church, probably better known as The Moonies after the founder of the cult, Sun Myung Moon, began in Korea in the 1950s, and now claims to have about 3 million adherents. Based on Moon’s book, Divine Principle, Moonies apparently believe in the establishment of a “God-centered family,” and posit that Moon was a Messiah. They came to prominence in the United States in the 1970s, particularly in regards to their mass weddings which received a lot of media attention, but since then, the cult has become a very large, and some would say dangerous, cultural and political influence in Korea and around the world. Join Tom and Jenny as they travel down another cult rabbit hole on this brainwashed installment of 13 O’Clock.
