On this headbanging installment, Tom and Jenny are taking a meandering journey through the early black metal scene, and discussing some of the notorious crimes for which some members of Norwegian black metal bands became infamous, such as the rash of church burnings in Norway, the murder of Euronymous (of Mayhem) and the killing of a gay man in the streets of Lillehammer by Faust, a member of the band Emperor. Tom also waxes nostalgic about his early heavy metal days! Raise a horned hand in salute to episode 146.

Hamilton Albert Fish was born in 1870 and grew into a man with pretty much every sexual deviance imaginable, and the whole rotten situation culminated in the 1920s with his murder of at least three children, at least one of whom he cooked and ate. On this Swedish true crime two-fer, Tom and Jenny are breaking down two grisly and mysterious murders. The first is the baffling 1932 case known simply as The Atlas Vampire, whereby a woman named Lilly Lindeström was found dead in her apartment with nearly all of her blood missing, save for a few smears on a nearby gravy ladle. The second is the 1984 killing and dismemberment of Catrine da Costa, a crime which served as the loose basis for Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Bust out the meatballs and lingonberry jam and dig out your Viking helmets and IKEA coupons, we’re popping over to Stockholm for episode 143.
