The lost civilization of Atlantis, first mentioned by Plato in 360 BCE, has come to be embraced by the new age community at large, and many writers of that ilk claim that Atlantis represented the peak of human evolution, or conversely that it was occupied by aliens or gods on earth whose knowledge has sadly been forgotten. A few researchers have even spent considerable time and effort trying to find the location of the lost land. But was Atlantis a real place, or just a fictional construct?
