13 O’Clock Episode 350 LIVE: Revisiting the Hwaseong Serial Murders (Solved)

Way back on episode 151, we discussed the then-unsolved Hwaseong serial murders that took place in South Korea between 1986 and 1994, which were the basis for the awesome 2003 Bong Joon-ho film Memories of Murder. Since we did the show, however, the case has actually been solved: the crimes were evidently perpetrated by serial killer Lee Choon-jae, who was sent to prison in 1994 for murdering his sister-in-law but cannot be prosecuted for the numerous Hwaseong crimes because of Korea’s statute of limitations. Join Tom and Jenny on this fascinating revisit to a lesser-known serial killer case on episode 350.
