It served as a local prison and held accused witches, including Kemp, before their trials. Over the years, The Cage gained notoriety as one of England’s most haunted buildings, with reports of ghostly apparitions, unexplained sounds, and an oppressive atmosphere. The property has drawn paranormal investigators and thrill-seekers, fueling its reputation as a chilling reminder of the region’s dark history of witch hunts.
