McKamey Manor is an extreme haunted house attraction founded by Russ McKamey, known for its intense and controversial experiences. Unlike traditional haunted houses, McKamey Manor subjects participants to physically and psychologically demanding situations, often including simulated abductions, confinement in small spaces, and exposure to distressing substances or insects. The experience can last several hours, and participants must sign a detailed waiver acknowledging the potential for physical and emotional trauma. The attraction has faced significant criticism and scrutiny, with many describing it as a form of legalized torture. Critics argue that the waiver does not fully protect participants from harm and that the extreme nature of the experience crosses ethical boundaries. Despite this, McKamey Manor has a dedicated following and supposedly continues to operate, with McKamey asserting that the experience is a form of extreme entertainment for those who seek it out. High-profile cases such as Ted Bundy, who garnered a following of admirers despite his gruesome crimes, exemplify this phenomenon. Similarly, the case of Richard Ramirez, known as the “Night Stalker,” drew attention from women who sent him love letters and attended his trial. The allure of such individuals can be attributed to a variety of factors, including the media sensationalism surrounding their crimes and a desire for a perceived connection to danger or rebellion. 13 O’Clock Episode 398: Randall Woodfield, The I-5 Killer

Between October of 1980 and February of 1981, a perpetrator known as the I-5 Bandit or the I-5 Killer terrorized Oregon, Washington, and California, raping and murdering women and girls in a frenzied spree of violence. The culprit was apprehended in March of 1981 and turned out to be a man by the name of Randall Woodfield, a former football player from an upper-middle-class family who was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1974 (but never played for them professionally). Though Woodfield was ultimately convicted of only one murder, he is suspected to have committed between 25 and 44, and he is currently serving a life sentence plus 165 years. Join Tom and Jenny as we discuss the murderous career of this cold-blooded killer on a horrific episode 398.

13 O’Clock Episode 396: Heol Fanog – The Welsh Amityville

The remote farmhouse known as Heol Fanog is nestled among the Brecon Beacons mountain range in Wales. Built in the 1950s in an area rumored to have a history of witchcraft, the house became infamous in the late 1980s when Liz and Bill Rich moved there with Bill’s teenage son. Shortly after settling in, the family claimed, unsettling paranormal activity began to occur, including disembodied footsteps and snoring, ridiculously high electric bills, horrible odors, doors slamming by themselves, and farm animals mysteriously dying. Eventually, Bill began going down a dark path, becoming interested in the occult, and not long afterward, the activity ramped up, graduating to terrifying apparitions and even a possible succubus. The house underwent many exorcisms that seemed to partially alleviate the problem, but the Rich family had had enough and fled the house about seven years after they’d first moved in. Join Tom and Jenny on a ghostly journey through the spooky Welsh countryside on a supernaturally special episode 396.
