13 O’Clock Episode 100 – True Crime Variety Special with Guests, Video, Kitties, and More!

Yes, we’ve reached an important milestone, folks: it’s 13 O’Clock’s big, bad ONE-HUNDREDTH episode! For months, we threw around different ideas about what to do for it, and in the end, we just decided to give our listeners more of what they seem to love most about the show: drunken rambling and horrific true crime stories. Plus, for those tuning in on YouTube, you will get to see videos of us in all our glory, plus little snippets of video of our kitties, and a 360 of our little office/studio, where the magic happens (the audio version doesn’t have video, obviously, but is still awesome and fun, so don’t feel left out)!

We also have special guests on the show: Shana, Eric, and zombie baby Demonika of BattleGlitta, who drank and laughed along with us as we delved into twenty of the most eerie and unpleasant true crime stories I could find. Creepiest disappearances! Horrible massacres of entire families! IT’S A MADHOUSE! Plus it’s like three hours long, so y’know…everyone take a potty break and gather all the snacks you’ll need before you settle in for the very long, vaguely incoherent, irreverent, and half-drunk installment of 13 O’Clock that IS episode 100. 13 O’Clock Episode 85 – The Clutter and Walker Family Murders (In Cold Blood)

Returning to the true crime fold with perhaps the best known of all the infamous multiple murders in American history, this episode of 13 O’Clock sees Tom and Jenny examining the brutal slayings of the Clutter farm family in Kansas, the crime on which Truman Capote based his classic book, In Cold Blood. Besides discussing the crime itself as well as the book that was written about it, we also delve into a far less known family massacre, that of the Walkers in Florida in 1959, which may or may not have been committed by the same men who killed the Clutters. All this, plus a couple of weird news stories about the Romanian living dead, and why you should probably look at your cashews before popping them in your mouth hole. Lock your doors and gird your loins for a grim, grisly, and gore-soaked episode 85.

13 O’Clock Episode 74 – Keddie and Bear Brook Murders, Plus Werewolf Killer

*In case you didn’t get the memo, this episode is just Jenny…Tom had a family emergency and had to go out of state. He should be back for episode 75.*

In 1981, four people were brutally slain in cabin 28 at the Keddie Resort in California. And in 1985 and 2000, the bodies of four unidentified females were discovered in 55-gallon drums in Allenstown, New Hampshire. On this grisly episode of 13 O’Clock, Jenny is discussing two infamous crimes: the Keddie Murders and the Bear Brook Murders, the first of which is still officially unsolved, but the second of which has had some interesting developments in the past two years. On the News segment, she’ll also be talking about Russia’s infamous “Werewolf” serial killer, who has recently gone on trial again for confessing to many, many more murders than it was originally thought he committed (which was already a lot). Yikes. Lock your doors and windows and tune in for a horrifying episode 74.

13 O’Clock Episode 71 – Hinterkaifeck Farm and the St. Aubin Street Massacre

What better time than the day after Christmas to reflect on the year that has passed and look forward to what will hopefully be a bright new year? Or, if you’re 13 O’Clock, you spend the day after Christmas talking about two of the grisliest and weirdest unsolved axe murders of the 20th century. Boxing Day, Axing Day, close enough. We all celebrate in our own ways, after all. On this blood-soaked episode, Tom and Jenny are discussing the massacre of the Gruber family at the infamous Hinterkaifeck Farm in Germany in 1922, as well as the bizarre occult-style slaying of the Benny Evangelist family in Detroit in 1929. Keep your head about you as we swing the blade of episode 71 right into your eager ear-holes.

13 O’Clock Episode 45 – Villisca and the Unsolved Axe Murders of the 1910s

The horrifying massacre that took place in Villisca, Iowa in 1912 is among the creepiest mass murders in American history. Eight people — a couple with four children and two young girls who were staying the night — were brutally slaughtered with an axe while they slept, for seemingly no reason whatsoever. The crime was never solved, and what’s worse, that dreadful slaying might not have been the only one. Some researchers point out that there was a disturbing trend of gruesome axe murders going on in the Midwest from the period of 1911 through 1914, and it’s possible that some of these crimes were perpetrated by the same person. On this episode of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny return to the most terrifying corners of the true crime genre to take a look at the infamous Villisca Axe Murders, as well as the disturbing series of similar crimes that terrorized the American heartland in the early twentieth century.
