On tonight’s two-topic extravaganza, Tom and Jenny discuss two disparate but equally fascinating cases. First, we’ll discuss the disappearance of famed female aviatrix Amelia Earhart, who along with her navigator Fred Noonan, vanished somewhere in the Pacific Ocean during the final leg of her historic around-the-world flight in 1937. Then, on the second half, gird your loins and keep the liquor handy, because we’ll be talking about one of the most f*cked up cults we’ve ever heard of (and that’s saying something). Known as the Ant Hill Kids, the group was formed in 1977 by French Canadian psychopath Roch Theriault as an offshoot of the Seventh-Day Adventists, but soon descended into an unbelievable nightmare of torture, mutilation, abuse, and murder. Seriously, this story’s rough, even for us. So gather your beverage and snacks of choice, and relax for a kinda schizophrenic episode 247.

It’s April 30th, Halfway To Halloween, and on tonight’s livestream, we’ll be discussing the infamous female serial killer Aileen Wuornos. Known as Lee, Wuornos emerged from an unbelievably messed up childhood as a hostile woman with an explosive temper and a seething hatred for humankind in general, but men in particular. Drifting through Florida and making her living as a sex worker and petty criminal, Aileen shot and killed seven men between 1989 and 1990, and was eventually apprehended and executed. Put on your Halloween best, prepare a creepy cocktail, and get ready for a tragic Florida tale of crime on a LIVE episode 246. On this grimly groovy installment, Tom and Jenny travel back to the heady, hippie-filled days of 1969, when a psychopathic ex-con by the name of Charles Manson orchestrated the savage murders of several innocent people, including up and coming actress Sharon Tate. Manson’s brainwashed followers, known as the Family, had perhaps come to believe in their leader’s bizarre predictions about Helter Skelter, a coming race war that would ostensibly result in Manson and his followers running the world. Or maybe there were even more complicated motives involving money, drug dealing, and petty revenge. We’ll talk about 10-year-old Mary Bell, who murdered two little boys in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1968; Eric Smith, a 13-year-old who brutally murdered a 4-year-old in 1993; Jesse Pomeroy, a 12-year-old serial killer from the 19th century; the infamous case of Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, who lured toddler James Bulger away from a shopping mall in Merseyside and beat him to death; as well as a few other examples of childhood gone impossibly wrong. 13 O’Clock Episode 240 LIVE: The Disappearance of the Sodder Children

Back in 1945, a devastating house fire broke out on Christmas Eve at the home of the Sodder family in West Virginia. Despite their best efforts, parents George and Jennie Sodder were unable to save five of their ten children from the flames…or so they thought. As strange evidence began to mount, the Sodders became convinced that not only had the blaze at their home been deliberately set, but also that whoever was behind the crime had spirited the five children away before the flames could consume them. The tragic and eerie tale remains an unsolved mystery to this day, so put on your deerstalker hats and get ready to follow the clues with Tom and Jenny on a LIVE episode 240.

In case you missed it, here’s Friday night’s live episode; sorry the video is in three parts again, but we kept losing the stream.

On this harrowing and heartbreaking installment, Tom and Jenny go back to 1999 to discuss what was, at the time, the deadliest school shooting in American history: the massacre of 13 people at Columbine High School, perpetrated by students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. The tragedy would become a media sensation and sadly would go on to inspire many subsequent school shootings, as well as bring up the usual debates about violent video games and movies, “dark” music and subcultures, gun control, and bullying. Join us as we break down the motives and horrifying cultural legacy of the Columbine massacre on a live episode 239.
