In 1971, a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked a Boeing 727 aircraft mid-flight and subsequently jumped out of the plane with a parachute and $200,000 in ransom money, never to be seen again. Did the later-dubbed D.B. Cooper survive his audacious jump, and if so, where did he go? Strap into your chutes and get ready to skydive into the dark skies of intrigue on a LIVE episode 238. Tom and Jenny return to the true crime beat on today’s installment, discussing the notorious 25-acre area of the Lone Star State that goes by the evocative name of the Texas Killing Fields. Since the early 1970s, the bodies of at least 30 girls and young women have been discovered along this lonely stretch of Interstate 45 between Houston and Galveston, and a handful of other victims have vanished without trace. Though a few of the crimes have been solved, many more have not, and authorities speculate that this could be a case of multiple serial killers using this same area as a macabre dumping ground. Get ready to have any remaining faith in humanity completely destroyed as we delve into the horrifying case on a LIVE episode 237.

On this creepy and tragic installment, Tom and Jenny talk about the origins of the internet’s best-known creepypasta, Slender Man, created in 2009 and subsequently the subject of a vast number of online horror stories, films, video games, and web series such as Marble Hornets, TribeTwelve, and EverymanHYBRID. Unfortunately, the character was also the supposed inspiration for a notorious 2014 crime, as two twelve-year-old girls in Waukesha, Wisconsin stabbed their friend 19 times because they believed that Slender Man had told them to. Then, we’ll be talking about the storied history of the famed British mental asylum, Broadmoor Hospital, which has been home to some of the country’s most notorious and violent criminals, from the Yorkshire Ripper to Ronnie Kray to the Stockwell Strangler, and discussing some of these famous patients. We’ll discuss the infamous Lawson Family Massacre of 1929, in which a father took out practically his entire family on Christmas Eve for reasons that weren’t known until much later; the 2008 Covina Massacre, where a man dressed as Santa slaughtered nine people with guns and a flamethrower at a holiday party; and several more brutal murders that took place on or around what is supposed to be one of the happiest days of the year.
