13 O’Clock Episode 186 – Ed Gein

On this particularly horrific installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are discussing a killer so infamous that he served as the inspiration for THREE iconic horror villains: Norman Bates from Psycho, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs. Yep, we’re talking about Wisconsin’s own Ed Gein, a stoic, Midwestern handyman, murderer, and grave-robber who supposedly “only” killed two people, but nonetheless achieved immortality because police searching his remote farmhouse discovered an utter horror show of preserved body parts, including a suit made of women’s skin, a box of noses and vulvas, soup bowls made from skulls, and ornaments fashioned from pieces of corpses and bones. Creep through the ghoulish graveyards of Gein’s crimes on a gag-inducing episode 186.

This seemingly friendly and community-minded individual flew under the radar for years, but was eventually found to have raped and murdered at least 33 young men and boys, burying most of them in the crawlspace beneath his house. On this mobbed-up installment, Tom and Jenny are talking about one of the most terrifying, prolific, and cold-blooded contract killers the United States has ever seen, Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski. Allegedly working as a freelance hit man for all five of the major New York City crime families as well as a few others, Kuklinski was as professional and heartless as they come, killing people in a variety of gruesome ways, sometimes for money and sometimes just because his victim pissed him off. Ultimately convicted of six murders, he may have committed from 100-300 total, though his true victim tally is not known. Put on your cement shoes and listen to episode 174’s chilling breakdown of the man widely called “The One Man Army” and “The Devil Himself” by his criminal colleagues.

First up, we’ll be discussing serial killer David Russell Williams, a highly-decorated military colonel who led a double life as a thief, rapist, and murderer; then we’ll talk about the fame-whoring Luka Magnotta, a porn star and model who murdered, dismembered, and partially ate a young man and then uploaded the video to the internet for everyone to see; next, we’ll break down the horrifying case of serial killer Bruce McArthur, who stalked Toronto’s Gay Village in the 2010s and is responsible for at least eight murders, if not many more; and finally, we’ll recount the nightmarish slaying of Tim McLean, who was stabbed, beheaded, and partially eaten on a Greyhound bus by a person who had apparently suffered a total psychotic break.
