13 O’Clock 194: Poltergeists! The Black Monk of Pontefract and the Brother Doli Case

On this paranormal-palooza, Tom and Jenny are breaking down two of the U.K.’s best known poltergeist/haunting cases: the infamous Black Monk of Pontefract, which began at 30 East Drive in 1966 and is considered one of the most violent poltergeist attacks in Europe; and the so-called Brother Doli case, a strange outbreak in North Wales that included apparitions and bizarre writing appearing on the walls of the Gower family farmhouse. Get your ghost hunting gear ready, it’s about to get spooky on episode 194.

13 O’Clock Episode 87 – Borley Rectory (Plus Keith Linder Haunting)

On today’s spooky and tangent-filled installment of 13 O’Clock, we’re tackling one of the most famous haunted houses in the world, Borley Rectory. Built in 1862 and investigated by famed paranormal investigator Harry Price, the Victorian-style mansion was allegedly the site of all sorts of supernatural shenanigans, including the apparition of a ghostly nun, a phantom carriage with two headless drivers, numerous reports of footsteps and screams, and bizarre writing that supposedly appeared on the walls asking for help. All this, plus a brief rundown of the Keith Linder Demons in Seattle case, which is in the news again since a new book just came out about it (even though I already wrote one about it back in 2016, called House of Fire and Whispers). Put your haunting hats on and settle by the fire for a spirited discussion on episode 87.

NOTE: If you just want to hear about Borley Rectory, skip ahead to about 26 minutes in; we kinda went off on a bunch of digressions, haha.

13 O’Clock Episode 65 – Poltergeists Who Play With Fire: Canneto di Caronia and More!

A poltergeist infestation can be a pain in the ass at the best of times, but what happens when the manifestations cause actual, massive property damage? That’s allegedly what happened in these six tales of fire-starting poltergeists. Tom and Jenny discuss the mysterious town-wide outbreak of fires in Canneto di Caronia, Italy (and how they may have a rational explanation after all), as well as five more infamous cases of “fire spooks” that occurred at Caledonia Mills, Nova Scotia; Odon, Indiana; Macomb, Illinois; Bladenboro, North Carolina; and Orland Hills, Illinois. Were these fires caused by some supernatural entity, by some kid with latent pyrokinetic powers, or by someone with a box full of matches and a penchant for destructive pranks? Have your graham crackers and marshmallows at the ready as we heat up for episode 65.

Come See Us At Spooky Empire!

Hey there, horror hounds! The magical weekend has finally arrived! Yes, it’s SPOOKY EMPIRE!!! Both myself and the God of Hellfire will be there, promoting my books as well as the 13 O’Clock Podcast! We’ll be on several panels on the Creator’s Track, which holds events in the Barrel Spring Room on the second level of the Hyatt Regency Orlando on International Drive.

On Friday, 8pm will see us on the Invasion of the Podcasters panel, and at 9pm we will be moderating the infamous Sick and Twisted Panel, complete with free booze (21+, obviously) and some of the most messed up shit you’ve ever heard.

Then on Saturday, I will be discussing Women In Horror at noon, both Tom and I will be talking about TV Spooks vs. Real Life Haunts at 2pm, and we’ll be at the signing table from 5pm-6pm, selling books and meeting and greeting. At 7pm, I will be on a panel called A Spike in the Ear.

Sunday, I will be discussing Twin Peaks on the panel devoted to that at 11am, and Tom will be talking about why we love villains so much on the Sympathy for the Devil panel at 2pm.

In between all the panels, we will be wandering around the con, so if you’re a fan and you see us, pop up and say hello; we don’t bite (much). We’re looking forward to seeing all you crazy kids there!

13 O’Clock Episode 59 – A Haunting in Georgia: Wyrick House and Mr. Gordy

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of our reviews of A Haunting episodes, so we decided to go back to the beginning and delve into the case behind one of the pilot episodes, “A Haunting in Georgia” (which was also the basis for the horror movie A Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia). The Wyrick family begin to experience paranormal activity in their new home in Ellerslie, Georgia, mostly centering around their daughter Heidi seeing a friendly old man in the backyard who she called Mr. Gordy, as well as another man with blood on his shirt that she called Con. Later on, things got a bit more sinister with the arrival of a creepy hooded figure who seemed to wish the family harm. On this episode, Tom and Jenny talk about the episode of A Haunting as well as the witness accounts of the real case, and how it was (poorly) adapted to the big screen. Start your October off right with the ghostly, haunted 59th installment of 13 O’Clock.

Also, if you have a TRUE creepy story that happened to you or someone you know (it doesn’t have to be paranormal, just scary), please email it to me at gravecake@gmail.com and we might feature it on our special Halloween episode!
