13 O’Clock Episode 292 LIVE: Cold Cases Updated and Solved

Here on 13 O’Clock, we’ve covered a lot of creepy disappearances and unsolved murders, but every now and then, some of these cold cases actually do get solved. On this installment, Tom and Jenny will be discussing updates to some of the missing persons cases we’ve talked about on prior shows, including the disappearances of Brandon Lawson, Alissa Turney, and Andrew Gosden. We’ll also talk about the bizarre case of Sherri Papini, which was recently solved, and get into the high-profile case of Gabby Petito, also cracked in 2021. And as a bonus, we’ll get into a horrific lover’s lane murder from 1956 — that of Patty Kalitzke and Duane Bogle — that was definitively solved with DNA after more than 65 years, as well as a gruesome murder from 1971 — that of Maureen Brubaker Farley — which was also finally cracked the same year. Get ready to solve some cold cases with Tom and Jenny on an update-heavy episode 292.

13 O’Clock Episode 276 LIVE: The Pennsylvania Torso Murders, aka The Murder Swamp Killings

Most everyone who knows something about American crime has heard of the Cleveland Torso Murders, a series of ghastly mutilation-style homicides that plagued the Kingsbury Run shanty town in the 1930s. But what is less well known is that right around the same time period, there were several very similar killings taking place not far away, in western Pennsylvania, where horrifically dismembered and occasionally burned bodies would turn up with alarming frequency, sometimes in abandoned boxcars, and sometimes in a patch of godforsaken land known as Murder Swamp or Hell’s Half Acre. While contemporary and modern investigators believe there may have been some connection between the Cleveland crimes and some of the Pennsylvania ones, others are not so sure, attributing the PA slayings to mafia-style killings by the Black Hand, or the results of warring factions of bootleggers in the days of Prohibition. Keep a barf bag handy for this one, because we’re about to go full-on grim gorefest on a blood-soaked episode 276.

Read the book Hell’s Wasteland, where I got most of the info about this case.

13 O’Clock Episode 257 LIVE: Jack the Ripper

On this blood-drenched installment, Tom and Jenny are finally getting around to discussing the OG of unidentified serial killers, the mysterious madman known as Jack the Ripper. In 1888, amid the crushing poverty of the East End in London, a shadowy figure stalked prostitutes, slaughtering and mutilating at least five of them over a relatively brief period. The murderer was never caught, and over the ensuing century, countless theories about the identity of the killer have swirled around, some of them more fanciful than others. So join 13 O’Clock on a journey through the dim, cobblestone streets of Victorian London as we break down the horrific crimes and the numerous suspects that have come to light in the years since, on a grisly episode 257.

13 O’Clock Episode 255 LIVE: The Coast Fiend

Between 1931 and 1938 in San Diego, California, several women and girls were brutally murdered in various ways; some of them were also raped and mutilated. Authorities at the time believed that at least four to six of the crimes may have been the work of one “degenerate,” who later came to be known as the Coast Fiend. Was a serial killer stalking the streets of San Diego in the 1930s, or were the grisly homicides completely unrelated? Delve into a forgotten series of murders and the possibility of an unapprehended murderer on a chilling episode 255.

13 O’Clock Episode 250 LIVE: The West Mesa Bone Collector

On today’s horrifying installment, we’re delving into the case of a probable serial killer who has yet to be identified. In 2009, a woman walking her dog discovered a human bone on West Mesa, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Further investigation yielded even more human remains, and police realized that there were eleven murdered women who had been dumped in this same area. The women — most of whom came from high-risk groups — had all gone missing between 2003 and 2005, and authorities suspect that one serial killer, dubbed the West Mesa Bone Collector, is likely responsible. Head out to the deserts of the Southwest with Tom and Jenny as we break down this heartbreaking case on episode 250.

On this July 4th livestream, Tom and Jenny discuss two serial killers who have (so far) not been caught: the so-called Connecticut River Valley Killer, and the Bible Belt Strangler, thought to be responsible for a series popularly known as the Redhead Murders (due to the hair color of most of the victims). Lock your doors, fire up your sparklers, and get ready for some serial killer madness on a LIVE episode 203.

13 O’Clock Episode 147 – The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders & the Murder of Marcia Trimble

On this heartbreaking installment, Tom and Jenny discuss two horrific murder cases from the 1970s, both involving Girl Scouts. First is the 1977 Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders, in which three little girls were brutally butchered while on a Girl Scout camping trip. The second is the 1975 killing of Marcia Trimble, who disappeared after setting out into her neighborhood to deliver Girl Scout cookies and was found dead more than a month later. Along the way, we go off on some of our inevitable digressions, especially about Girl Scout cookies, because of course we do. Lay in your stock of Thin Mints and bust out the tissues for another true crime two-fer on episode 147.

13 O’Clock Episode 143 – The Atlas Vampire and the Murder of Catrine da Costa

On this Swedish true crime two-fer, Tom and Jenny are breaking down two grisly and mysterious murders. The first is the baffling 1932 case known simply as The Atlas Vampire, whereby a woman named Lilly Lindeström was found dead in her apartment with nearly all of her blood missing, save for a few smears on a nearby gravy ladle. The second is the 1984 killing and dismemberment of Catrine da Costa, a crime which served as the loose basis for Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Bust out the meatballs and lingonberry jam and dig out your Viking helmets and IKEA coupons, we’re popping over to Stockholm for episode 143.

13 O’Clock Episode 136 – The Colonial Parkway Murders and the Highway of Tears

On this installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are turning their attention to two horrifying cases of murders associated with highways and travel. On the first half, we’ll discuss the infamous Colonial Parkway murders, a chilling series of “lover’s lane” style killings that took place in a small area of Virginia in the late 1980s. Then we’ll talk about the heartbreaking saga of the Highway of Tears, a stretch of Highway 16 in British Columbia, Canada where numerous women and girls — many of them indigenous — have disappeared or been found murdered from the late 1960s right up until the present day. Stay off the roads and settle in for another true crime examination on episode 136.
