13 O’Clock Episode 91 – The Long Island Serial Killer

It’s a serial killer extravaganza on this horrific installment! Tom and Jenny are looking into a suspected and infamous serial killer case that is still ongoing. In December of 2010, while looking for a missing person in Long Island, New York, police stumbled across four bodies in burlap sacks, and a few months later, discovered six more nearby. The unknown perpetrator known as the Long Island Serial Killer, the Gilgo Beach Killer, or the Craigslist Ripper is thought to be responsible for between ten to sixteen murders in and around Long Island between the years of 1996 to 2010, and may still be operating today. Tune in as we discuss what is known about the case so far, and also have a listen to our news segment, in which we not only give the latest updates on recently apprehended Golden State Killer suspect Joseph DeAngelo, but also talk a little bit about recently deceased British serial killer Dennis Nilsen, as well as have a brief discussion about the weirdly specific jobs that serial killers seem attracted to. 13 O’Clock Episode 88 – British Serial Killers Jack the Stripper and Bible John

NOTE: We’re all about the digressions again this episode, so if you just want the serial killer stuff, skip ahead to about twenty minutes in. I’m telling you right here, so don’t complain, hahaha.

It’s true crime time again on this installment of 13 O’Clock, and this go-around we’re discussing two of Britain’s most infamous serial killers who were never caught. First up is the elusive Jack the Stripper, responsible for several murders of prostitutes in London spanning the years from 1959 to 1965. Then we’ll be talking about the mysterious Bible John, who murdered at least three women in Glasgow in 1968 and 1969 after meeting them at one particular dance hall, but who may be tied in to one of Scotland’s most prolific serial killers. All this, plus some recent news stories about exploding hams, getting tasered for Jesus, and attic-dwelling ex-boyfriends. Get ready to investigate with Tom and Jenny on a gore-soaked episode 88.

It’s another true crime double feature on 13 O’Clock, and we’re featuring two infamous crimes from 1960s Australia. First up, the horrific slayings of Marianne Schmidt and Christine Sharrock on Wanda Beach in 1965, and then the mysterious disappearance and probable murder of the Beaumont children from 1966. Before that, our news segment focuses on a typical “Florida Man” crime, about a man who was into child porn and then got into even bigger trouble trying to hire a hit man. It’s a special kind of stupid, trust me. So put on your deerstalker hats and get ready to investigate some unsolved crimes with Tom and Jenny on a bloody and tragic episode 77.

13 O’Clock Episode 74 – Keddie and Bear Brook Murders, Plus Werewolf Killer

In 1981, four people were brutally slain in cabin 28 at the Keddie Resort in California. And in 1985 and 2000, the bodies of four unidentified females were discovered in 55-gallon drums in Allenstown, New Hampshire. On this grisly episode of 13 O’Clock, Jenny is discussing two infamous crimes: the Keddie Murders and the Bear Brook Murders, the first of which is still officially unsolved, but the second of which has had some interesting developments in the past two years. On the News segment, she’ll also be talking about Russia’s infamous “Werewolf” serial killer, who has recently gone on trial again for confessing to many, many more murders than it was originally thought he committed (which was already a lot). What better time than the day after Christmas to reflect on the year that has passed and look forward to what will hopefully be a bright new year? Or, if you’re 13 O’Clock, you spend the day after Christmas talking about two of the grisliest and weirdest unsolved axe murders of the 20th century. Boxing Day, Axing Day, close enough. We all celebrate in our own ways, after all. On this blood-soaked episode, Tom and Jenny are discussing the massacre of the Gruber family at the infamous Hinterkaifeck Farm in Germany in 1922, as well as the bizarre occult-style slaying of the Benny Evangelist family in Detroit in 1929. 13 O’Clock Episode 68 – The Smiley Face Murder Theory

Ever since the late 1990s, there have been a bunch of strange disappearances and deaths of college-age white men that have taken place in 11 different states in the northern half of the U.S. In almost all cases, when the bodies are eventually found, the deaths are ruled as accidental drownings. But two investigators, Kevin Gannon and Anthony Duarte, believe that there might be a serial killer, or even a gang of serial killers, responsible for the deaths of these young men. On this episode, Tom and Jenny return to the true crime well and examine the mysterious Smiley Face Murder Theory and weigh the evidence on both sides: were these men murdered by a psycho or psychos? Or did they just accidentally drown after drinking too much? Put on a happy face and settle in for the criminally fascinating episode 68.

13 O’Clock Episode 60 – The Cleveland Torso Murders

It’s true crime time again on the show, kids, and today we’re discussing a particularly gruesome and infamous series of unsolved murders that also makes an appearance in Jenny’s brand new book, The Faceless Villain. The Cleveland Torso Murders were exactly what they claim on the tin: they happened in Cleveland in the 1930s, and most of the victims were found in varying states of grisly dismemberment. Many of the victims were never even identified, and the killer never was either, so hopefully that makes you sleep better at night. Gird your loins or other appropriate anatomy, because this one’s a tad icky, and if you’re watching on YouTube, I’ll slap a GROSS PHOTO WARNING right down here. Try to keep all your limbs attached as you settle in for episode 60 of 13 O’Clock.

13 O’Clock Episode 45 – Villisca and the Unsolved Axe Murders of the 1910s

The horrifying massacre that took place in Villisca, Iowa in 1912 is among the creepiest mass murders in American history. Eight people — a couple with four children and two young girls who were staying the night — were brutally slaughtered with an axe while they slept, for seemingly no reason whatsoever. The crime was never solved, and what’s worse, that dreadful slaying might not have been the only one. Some researchers point out that there was a disturbing trend of gruesome axe murders going on in the Midwest from the period of 1911 through 1914, and it’s possible that some of these crimes were perpetrated by the same person. On this episode of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny return to the most terrifying corners of the true crime genre to take a look at the infamous Villisca Axe Murders, as well as the disturbing series of similar crimes that terrorized the American heartland in the early twentieth century.
