It’s another true crime double feature on 13 O’Clock, and we’re featuring two infamous crimes from 1960s Australia. First up, the horrific slayings of Marianne Schmidt and Christine Sharrock on Wanda Beach in 1965, and then the mysterious disappearance and probable murder of the Beaumont children from 1966. Before that, our news segment focuses on a typical “Florida Man” crime, about a man who was into child porn and then got into even bigger trouble trying to hire a hit man. It’s a special kind of stupid, trust me. So put on your deerstalker hats and get ready to investigate some unsolved crimes with Tom and Jenny on a bloody and tragic episode 77.

13 O’Clock Episode 74 – Keddie and Bear Brook Murders, Plus Werewolf Killer

*In case you didn’t get the memo, this episode is just Jenny…Tom had a family emergency and had to go out of state. He should be back for episode 75.*

In 1981, four people were brutally slain in cabin 28 at the Keddie Resort in California. And in 1985 and 2000, the bodies of four unidentified females were discovered in 55-gallon drums in Allenstown, New Hampshire. On this grisly episode of 13 O’Clock, Jenny is discussing two infamous crimes: the Keddie Murders and the Bear Brook Murders, the first of which is still officially unsolved, but the second of which has had some interesting developments in the past two years. On the News segment, she’ll also be talking about Russia’s infamous “Werewolf” serial killer, who has recently gone on trial again for confessing to many, many more murders than it was originally thought he committed (which was already a lot). 13 O’Clock Episode 71 – Hinterkaifeck Farm and the St. Aubin Street Massacre

What better time than the day after Christmas to reflect on the year that has passed and look forward to what will hopefully be a bright new year? Or, if you’re 13 O’Clock, you spend the day after Christmas talking about two of the grisliest and weirdest unsolved axe murders of the 20th century. Boxing Day, Axing Day, close enough. We all celebrate in our own ways, after all. On this blood-soaked episode, Tom and Jenny are discussing the massacre of the Gruber family at the infamous Hinterkaifeck Farm in Germany in 1922, as well as the bizarre occult-style slaying of the Benny Evangelist family in Detroit in 1929. Keep your head about you as we swing the blade of episode 71 right into your eager ear-holes.

13 O’Clock Episode 68 – The Smiley Face Murder Theory

Ever since the late 1990s, there have been a bunch of strange disappearances and deaths of college-age white men that have taken place in 11 different states in the northern half of the U.S. In almost all cases, when the bodies are eventually found, the deaths are ruled as accidental drownings. But two investigators, Kevin Gannon and Anthony Duarte, believe that there might be a serial killer, or even a gang of serial killers, responsible for the deaths of these young men. On this episode, Tom and Jenny return to the true crime well and examine the mysterious Smiley Face Murder Theory and weigh the evidence on both sides: were these men murdered by a psycho or psychos? Or did they just accidentally drown after drinking too much? Put on a happy face and settle in for the criminally fascinating episode 68.

13 O’Clock Episode 60 – The Cleveland Torso Murders

It’s true crime time again on the show, kids, and today we’re discussing a particularly gruesome and infamous series of unsolved murders that also makes an appearance in Jenny’s brand new book, The Faceless Villain. The Cleveland Torso Murders were exactly what they claim on the tin: they happened in Cleveland in the 1930s, and most of the victims were found in varying states of grisly dismemberment. Many of the victims were never even identified, and the killer never was either, so hopefully that makes you sleep better at night. Gird your loins or other appropriate anatomy, because this one’s a tad icky, and if you’re watching on YouTube, I’ll slap a GROSS PHOTO WARNING right down here. Try to keep all your limbs attached as you settle in for episode 60 of 13 O’Clock.

13 O’Clock Episode 45 – Villisca and the Unsolved Axe Murders of the 1910s

The horrifying massacre that took place in Villisca, Iowa in 1912 is among the creepiest mass murders in American history. Eight people — a couple with four children and two young girls who were staying the night — were brutally slaughtered with an axe while they slept, for seemingly no reason whatsoever. The crime was never solved, and what’s worse, that dreadful slaying might not have been the only one. Some researchers point out that there was a disturbing trend of gruesome axe murders going on in the Midwest from the period of 1911 through 1914, and it’s possible that some of these crimes were perpetrated by the same person. On this episode of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny return to the most terrifying corners of the true crime genre to take a look at the infamous Villisca Axe Murders, as well as the disturbing series of similar crimes that terrorized the American heartland in the early twentieth century.

13 O’Clock Episode 32 – Horror in Room 1046: The Unsolved Murder of Roland T. Owen

In January of 1935, a young man checked into a hotel in Kansas City under the pseudonym Roland T. Owen, with only a hairbrush, a comb, and a tube of toothpaste to his name. A couple of days later, he was found naked, bound and obviously tortured in his blood-splashed room. Who was this murdered man with the fake name? Why was he constantly sitting in the dark? Who was the mysterious “Don” he talked to on the phone? Why was he running down the street clad only in pants and an undershirt? Who anonymously paid for his funeral and a bouquet of roses? Who sent cryptic typed letters to his mother months after his death?

Everyone loves an unsolved murder, and the mystery of room 1046 is one of the eeriest unsolved crimes in American history. On this episode, Tom and Jenny give a timeline of the bizarre events leading up to the man’s death, and speculate as to what might have befallen the doomed occupant of the Hotel President.

13 O’Clock Episode 8 – The Original Night Stalker

Most people have heard of Richard Ramirez, the infamous serial killer known as the Night Stalker. But what many people don’t know is that a decade before Ramirez commenced his reign of terror, a much more brutal and prolific serial killer and rapist stalked the upper-middle-class neighborhoods of California, from Sacramento to Irvine. This man, known alternately as the East Area Rapist, the Golden State Killer, the Diamond Knot Killer, or The Original Night Stalker, has never been apprehended, and may still be on the loose. On this episode, Tom and Jenny discuss his horrific crimes and speculate as to why he was never caught. 2016, in fact, marks the 40th anniversary of the Original Night Stalker’s first known crime, and the FBI have redoubled their efforts to track the guy down, offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his capture and conviction.
