On this bloody and historical installment, Tom and Jenny are traveling back to early 20th century Russia to discuss the legends surrounding the influential holy man Rasputin, sometimes known as the “Mad Monk,” and the relationship he fostered with the Romanovs, the last imperial family of Russia, all of whom were gunned down in a cellar by Bolshevik guards in 1918. We’ll also briefly discuss the nebulous time period before the bodies of the Romanovs were discovered and identified, when numerous people came forward claiming to be escaped members of the Romanov family, most notably teenage daughter Anastasia. Hop in the time machine and accompany us on a historical mystery tour on episode 135.
