On this heartbreaking installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are discussing four missing persons cases that were recommended to us by listeners. We tackle the Sherri Papini case, in which a woman claimed to have been abducted and then returned three weeks later; the chilling disappearance of Jennifer Kesse from the parking lot of her Orlando condominium; the tragic case of Alissa Turney, which might involve a close family member; and the bizarre circumstances surrounding the vanishing of step-siblings Joshua “J.J.” Vallow and Tylee Ryan, a case that not only involved the missing children, but also three murders within the family. Check on your loved ones and make sure your cell phone is charged, it’s an eerie missing persons panoply on episode 187.

On this installment of the Matinee, Tom and Jenny are taking a look at three new movies streaming on Netflix and Shudder. The first of these is the fun, breezy Mark Wahlberg buddy cop comedy Spenser Confidential; the second is an okay but kinda convoluted serial-killer thriller from Spain titled Twin Murders: The Silence of the White City; and third is an intriguing English-language flick from France called The Room (not to be confused with the Tommy Wiseau “masterpiece”), with a very Twilight Zone premise and some messed-up developments therein.

13 O’Clock Episode 186 – Ed Gein

On this particularly horrific installment of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny are discussing a killer so infamous that he served as the inspiration for THREE iconic horror villains: Norman Bates from Psycho, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs. Yep, we’re talking about Wisconsin’s own Ed Gein, a stoic, Midwestern handyman, murderer, and grave-robber who supposedly “only” killed two people, but nonetheless achieved immortality because police searching his remote farmhouse discovered an utter horror show of preserved body parts, including a suit made of women’s skin, a box of noses and vulvas, soup bowls made from skulls, and ornaments fashioned from pieces of corpses and bones. Creep through the ghoulish graveyards of Gein’s crimes on a gag-inducing episode 186.

On the 75th installment of the Matinee show, Tom and Jenny discuss the quite decent surreal horror comedy Girl on the Third Floor (on Netflix); the fantastic, visually trippy Lovecraft adaptation Color Out of Space, starring Nicholas Cage at his very Cageyist and directed by mad genius Richard Stanley; and the arty, strange, horror sci-fi flick Replace (on Shudder).
