13 O’Clock Episode 91 – The Long Island Serial Killer

It’s a serial killer extravaganza on this horrific installment! Tom and Jenny are looking into a suspected and infamous serial killer case that is still ongoing. In December of 2010, while looking for a missing person in Long Island, New York, police stumbled across four bodies in burlap sacks, and a few months later, discovered six more nearby. The unknown perpetrator known as the Long Island Serial Killer, the Gilgo Beach Killer, or the Craigslist Ripper is thought to be responsible for between ten to sixteen murders in and around Long Island between the years of 1996 to 2010, and may still be operating today. Tune in as we discuss what is known about the case so far, and also have a listen to our news segment, in which we not only give the latest updates on recently apprehended Golden State Killer suspect Joseph DeAngelo, but also talk a little bit about recently deceased British serial killer Dennis Nilsen, as well as have a brief discussion about the weirdly specific jobs that serial killers seem attracted to. We’re putting on our Indiana Jones hats and digging deep on this episode of 13 O’Clock, which is a whirlwind examination of crazy archaeological and natural history claims that have been used to support young-earth creationism. From living frogs found encased in solid rock, to supposed pterodactyls found in caves in the 1860s; from the Acambaro Figures to the footprints at the Paluxy Riverbed, we’re running through a plethora of pseudo-archaeological finds and various other “Forteana.” All this, plus silly news stories about afterlife malarkey, Easter molestation, and mummified monkeys. Fans of the show may remember that way back on Episode 8, we talked about the serial killer / rapist known as the Original Night Stalker (aka the Golden State Killer). Well, lo and behold, just as we were preparing a topic for this week’s show, THE ORIGINAL NIGHT STALKER GOT CAUGHT!!! Yes, the scumbag’s name is Joseph DeAngelo and he is currently in custody, so far charged with eight counts of murder in the horrific crime spree that terrorized California from 1976 through 1986. To celebrate the capture of this long-sought-after criminal, 13 O’Clock is doing an update and revisit of the case, since our first episode about the rapist and murderer caused so much interest. Listen in as we break down what we know about the man behind the monster, and discuss what we got right (and wrong) on our earlier show! It’s a super-topical, special EAR-ONS edition of 13 O’Clock, and it’s episode 89.

NOTE: We’re all about the digressions again this episode, so if you just want the serial killer stuff, skip ahead to about twenty minutes in. I’m telling you right here, so don’t complain, hahaha.

It’s true crime time again on this installment of 13 O’Clock, and this go-around we’re discussing two of Britain’s most infamous serial killers who were never caught. First up is the elusive Jack the Stripper, responsible for several murders of prostitutes in London spanning the years from 1959 to 1965. Then we’ll be talking about the mysterious Bible John, who murdered at least three women in Glasgow in 1968 and 1969 after meeting them at one particular dance hall, but who may be tied in to one of Scotland’s most prolific serial killers. All this, plus some recent news stories about exploding hams, getting tasered for Jesus, and attic-dwelling ex-boyfriends. Get ready to investigate with Tom and Jenny on a gore-soaked episode 88.

13 O’Clock Episode 87 – Borley Rectory (Plus Keith Linder Haunting)

On today’s spooky and tangent-filled installment of 13 O’Clock, we’re tackling one of the most famous haunted houses in the world, Borley Rectory. Built in 1862 and investigated by famed paranormal investigator Harry Price, the Victorian-style mansion was allegedly the site of all sorts of supernatural shenanigans, including the apparition of a ghostly nun, a phantom carriage with two headless drivers, numerous reports of footsteps and screams, and bizarre writing that supposedly appeared on the walls asking for help. All this, plus a brief rundown of the Keith Linder Demons in Seattle case, which is in the news again since a new book just came out about it (even though I already wrote one about it back in 2016, called House of Fire and Whispers). Put your haunting hats on and settle by the fire for a spirited discussion on episode 87.
