Between September 2003 and July 2004, a serial killer stalked the streets of Seoul, South Korea. This offender, later dubbed the Raincoat Killer, bludgeoned, dismembered, and possibly cannibalized at least twenty victims, most of them sex workers or wealthy older people. When the perpetrator was caught, he turned out to be a once-married father of one, Yoo Young-chul, a career criminal with a violent hatred of women and a particular resentment for the rich. Join Tom and Jenny as they delve into the case of one of the most prolific serial killers South Korea has ever seen.

Mankind has come up with some pretty amazing technologies, but one depressing aspect of our boundless creativity is that it’s often used for evil. On this episode of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny take a horrifying journey through the Middle Ages, describing some of the worst torture devices ever devised by man, including the rack, the iron maiden, the thumbscrews, the Judas cradle, the scold’s bridle, the pear of anguish (way worse than it sounds), and the breast ripper (self-explanatory). Stock up on painkillers and follow us down to the dungeon on a torturous and terrifying episode 373.
