13 O’Clock Episode 361 LIVE: Long Island Serial Killer Update

Way back in May of 2018, we did a show about the Long Island Serial Killer, who at that time was unidentified. However, in July of 2023, authorities dropped a bombshell, informing the media that they had made an arrest in the long-running case: the suspect is 59-year-old architect and family man Rex Heuermann, who is presently being charged with three of the iconic “Gilgo Four” murders, and is suspected in several more. On this up-to-the-minute episode, Tom and Jenny will revisit the intricacies of the LISK case and dive into all the updates about the suspect now in custody.

13 O’Clock Episode 359 LIVE: Lethal Victorian Ladies – Mary Pearcey and Amelia Dyer

Anyone who’s into true crime knows that women can be every bit as vicious as men, and on this particular episode, Tom and Jenny will be discussing two of history’s most notorious female murderers. First, we’ll talk about 19th-century killer Mary Pearcey, who brutally slaughtered a woman and a baby and has also been put forward as a candidate for Jack the Ripper. Then we’ll tackle the case of perhaps the most prolific female serial killer ever, baby farmer Amelia Dyer, also known as the Ogress of Reading. Dyer is believed to have slain between 200 and 400 infants over a period spanning from 1869 to 1896. Settle in for these two tales of terror on a deadlier-of-the-species edition of 13 O’Clock.

School shootings are depressingly common nowadays, but back in 1979, they were practically unheard of. And though many people may not be aware of it, the first “modern” type of school shooting to take place in the United States was perpetrated by a slight, red-haired, sixteen-year-old girl named Brenda Spencer, who decided on one January morning to open fire on Cleveland Elementary School across the street from her house, killing two and wounding nine others. Famously, when asked for her reasons for committing such a horrible crime, she apparently answered, “I don’t like Mondays. This livens up the day.” This callous phrase would become immortalized by the Irish rock band The Boomtown Rats, whose chart-topping song “I Don’t Like Mondays” was inspired by the heinous rampage of Brenda Spencer.
