13 O’Clock Episode 58 – Corpsewood Manor and the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders

To celebrate the upcoming release of Jenny’s new true crime book, The Faceless Villain, we decided to devote episode 58 to a double feature of some super creepy crime cases (both of which were suggested by fans)! First up, the terrifying murder of Dr. Charles Scudder and Joseph Odom at their castle in the woods, Corpsewood Manor; and second, the bizarre kidnapping/murder case on which the 2008 movie Changeling was based: the so-called Wineville Chicken Coop Murders. Get your true crime on with the latest gruesome installment of 13 O’Clock, and also treat yourself to a slice of virtual cake because it’s Jenny’s birthday today (September 26th)!

Also, if you have a TRUE creepy story that happened to you or someone you know (it doesn’t have to be paranormal, just scary and true to the best of your knowledge), please email it to me at gravecake@gmail.com and we might feature it on our special Halloween episode!

13 O’Clock Episode 56 – Anton LaVey and the Church of Satan

Anton LaVey, infamous founder of the Church of Satan and a consummate showman, brought his particular brand of philosophical occult belief to wider acceptance in the 1960s. In its heyday, the Church of Satan boasted some notable Hollywood names and respected writers among its membership, though after the Manson Family murders of 1969, Satanism began to lose some of its rebellious allure. On this episode of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny delve into the lingering legend of Anton LaVey, separating the truth from the fiction and discussing his influence on American culture throughout the 60s to the present day. Raise a horned hand in salute to episode 56. Download the audio version here or watch the YouTube video here.

By the way, sorry about some of the weird sound anomalies we got on this episode…must be the devil or Anton LaVey’s ghost fucking with my audio. Or hurricane voodoo. 😦

13 O’Clock Podcast Episode Two: Satanic Panic!

In the 1980s, the moral scolds of America were suddenly whipped into a frenzy, convinced that everything from Dungeons and Dragons to heavy metal music to Saturday morning cartoons were irrefutable proof that an organized cabal of Satanists was roaming the land, kidnapping and molesting children, sacrificing puppies, and eating juicy babies with a side of devilled eggs. On the second episode of the 13 O’Clock Podcast, Tom and Jenny break down (and make fun of) the tragicomic period of recent history known as the Satanic Panic.
