13 O’Clock Episode 56 – Anton LaVey and the Church of Satan
Anton LaVey, infamous founder of the Church of Satan and a consummate showman, brought his particular brand of philosophical occult belief to wider acceptance in the 1960s. In its heyday, the Church of Satan boasted some notable Hollywood names and respected writers among its membership, though after the Manson Family murders of 1969, Satanism began to lose some of its rebellious allure. On this episode of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny delve into the lingering legend of Anton LaVey, separating the truth from the fiction and discussing his influence on American culture throughout the 60s to the present day. By the way, sorry about some of the weird sound anomalies we got on this episode…must be the devil or Anton LaVey’s ghost fucking with my audio. Or hurricane voodoo. 😦
