13 O’Clock Episode 207 LIVE: Jack Parsons, Rocket Scientist and Occultist

On tonight’s fun livestream, Tom and Jenny discuss the original rocket man, Jack Parsons. Born in 1914, Parsons was one of the founders of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a genius rocket scientist who also happened to be fascinated by the occult, and was a high-ranking devotee of Aleister Crowley’s Ordo Templi Orientalis (OTO), as well as an associate of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. Get a snack and settle in for nearly four hours of drunken shenanigans involving Jack Parsons, L. Ron Hubbard, sex magic, and many other entertaining sidetracks and diversions on this live and unfiltered episode 207.

Episode 177 – Boleskine House: Aleister Crowley, Jimmy Page, and More!

On this occult installment, Tom and Jenny are discussing the infamous Boleskine House on the shores of Loch Ness in Scotland. Though the house is primarily remembered as being the residence of Aleister Crowley for a time in the early 20th century, and is supposedly the place where he conjured up some evil spirits and failed to send them back to where they came from, the property has had a fascinating history since that time, with all sorts of paranormal goings-on, links with Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin, and wacky theories about its connection to the Loch Ness Monster. Though the house was sadly almost completely destroyed by fire in the past few years, restoration efforts have just begun, so while you’re waiting for Boleskine to be returned to its previous esoteric glory, draw your magick circle and invoke the rambling voices of your 13 O’Clock hosts on episode 177.

13 O’Clock Episode 56 – Anton LaVey and the Church of Satan

Anton LaVey, infamous founder of the Church of Satan and a consummate showman, brought his particular brand of philosophical occult belief to wider acceptance in the 1960s. In its heyday, the Church of Satan boasted some notable Hollywood names and respected writers among its membership, though after the Manson Family murders of 1969, Satanism began to lose some of its rebellious allure. On this episode of 13 O’Clock, Tom and Jenny delve into the lingering legend of Anton LaVey, separating the truth from the fiction and discussing his influence on American culture throughout the 60s to the present day. Raise a horned hand in salute to episode 56. Download the audio version here or watch the YouTube video here.

By the way, sorry about some of the weird sound anomalies we got on this episode…must be the devil or Anton LaVey’s ghost fucking with my audio. Or hurricane voodoo. 😦

13 O’Clock Episode 24 – Fun Facts and Myths About Aleister Crowley

Aleister Crowley is one of the most fascinating figures of the 20th century. Known as “The Great Beast 666” or “The Wickedest Man in the World,” facts and rumors about Crowley’s occult shenanigans have become so intertwined that it’s now impossible to separate the reality from the legend. On this episode, Tom and Jenny examine some of their favorite facts, anecdotes, myths, and conspiracies about Crowley, including the possibility that he was a Jack the Ripper copycat killer who carried out the Curse of King Tut, that he fought off a female vampire sent to attack him by a rival, that he might have been Barbara Bush’s father, that his writings were the inspiration for Scientology, and that he once helmed a disastrous mountaineering expedition that ended in four deaths.

13 O’Clock Episode 13 – Creepy Superstitions and Death Omens

It’s the special meta 13th episode of 13 O’Clock! To celebrate the theme, Tom and Jenny decided to have a fun little romp through creepy superstitions and omens of death throughout the ages. Aside from the obvious warnings about black cats, broken mirrors, and not breathing around cemeteries, you will also learn why it’s always prudent to put coins on the eyes of a corpse! Why you should start writing out your will if you see a groundhog chilling on your doorstep! Why you should always bury a murder victim’s liver separate from the rest of the body (trust me, this won’t make any more sense after you listen to the show)! Why Victorians were the most morbid fuckers and the snappiest dressers in recorded history!

Along the way, be entertained by amusing digressions about swaggering cockroaches, Mafia-affiliated Sandhill cranes, Tom’s recently shorn dome, and the joys of frying chicken in old motor oil.

13 O’Clock Episode 11 – “Real” Demonic Possession and Exorcisms

The power of Christ should compel you to listen to episode 11 of the 13 O’Clock Podcast, wherein Tom and Jenny break down a few notable cases of supposed demon possession, like the tale of Roland Doe/Robbie Mannheim (basis for the film/novel The Exorcist) and Anneliese Michel (basis for The Exorcism of Emily Rose). We also discuss a few notable murder cases in which demon possession was an actual defense (yeah, that didn’t work out so well) and a few other bits and bobs about so-called “demonic” hauntings.
