13 O’Clock Episode 128 – The Toy-Box Killer and the Beauty Queen Killer

It’s two more terrifying tales of true crime on today’s installment of 13 O’Clock. First up, we’ll be discussing the notorious David Parker Ray, better known as the Toy-Box Killer, a serial rapist, torturer, and suspected serial killer who kidnapped women with the help of his willing accomplices and subjected them to the most brutal torture imaginable inside of his purpose-built trailer. Then, on the second half, we’ll be talking about Christopher Wilder, aka The Beauty Queen Killer, who became infamous after an unbelievable 1984 rape and murder spree that lasted several months and claimed at least eight victims, most of whom were beautiful young women who Wilder would lure out of shopping malls by claiming to be a fashion photographer. Prepare a stiff drink and settle in for the ghastly journey into depravity that is episode 128.

13 O’Clock Episode 126 – Son of Sam

On today’s crime-ridden installment, Tom and Jenny are tackling yet another of America’s most notorious serial killers: David Berkowitz, better known as the Son of Sam, who terrorized New York City in 1976 and 1977 and was ultimately convicted of six murders and seven attempted murders. Though this loathsome creep was eventually caught, mysteries still swirl around the case. Did he really commit the crimes at the behest of a demon-possessed dog? Was he a member of a Satanic cult? Did he actually act alone, or were there other shooters? Travel back in time to the poisoned Big Apple of the 1970s on this bloody and violent episode 126.

13 O’Clock Episode 124 – The Axeman of New Orleans and the Mulatto Axe Murders

It’s our first show of the new year, and what better way to start off 2019 than with a couple of old-timey axe murder cases? On this blood-spattered installment, we’re traveling back to the early 20th century to discuss the infamous unidentified serial killer known as the Axeman of New Orleans, who murdered six people and wounded six more between the spring of 1918 and the autumn of 1919. Then, on the second half, we’re delving a little deeper to talk about a nearly-forgotten rash of axe murders that took place between November 1909 and April 1912 in Louisiana and Texas that claimed the lives of at least 35 people. This series of horrific killings, known as the Mulatto Axe Murders or the Voodoo Murders, may have been perpetrated by an eighteen-year-old girl, Clementine Barnabet, who was allegedly a member of a voodoo cult and had several accomplices to her crimes. Was she really the monster she was made out to be, or was it all media hype? Lock your doors and fire up your jazz records, it’s time to swing the blade on episode 124. Happy New Year, everybody!

During this time period, the small Canadian metropolis was known as the Serial Killer Capital of the World, due to its unusually high number of serial homicides, most of them targeted at women and girls; not to mention the fact that London also played host to at least SIX serial killers at the time, and possibly many more who were never caught. We’re returning to the true crime well for this installment of 13 O’Clock, and this time around, we’re talking serial murder, European style. On the first segment, we’ll be discussing the so-called “Monster of Florence,” a killer or group of killers who targeted camping couples in the Italian countryside in the period spanning 1968 to 1985. On the second half, we’ll be relating the case of German serial murderer Friedrich “Fritz” Haarman, also known as the Vampire of Hanover, who murdered at least 27 boys and men between the years of 1918 and 1924. We’ll be discussing two cases of some of the most brutal killers on the American frontier…the infamous Harpe Brothers, who murdered at least forty people in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Illinois in the late 18th century, and the legendary Belle Gunness, a ruthless “lonely hearts” killer who murdered somewhere between fourteen and forty victims at the dawn of the 20th century and buried many of the bodies on her farm. Take a swig of sarsaparilla and slap on your spurs, because episode 112 is going back in time for historical crime.

First up, we’ll be tackling the case of the infamous NorCal Rapist, an offender who carried out at least ten attacks between 1991 and 2006, and was finally identified just recently through DNA as fifty-eight-year-old Roy Charles Waller. On the second half of the show, we’ll be discussing the chilling case of LA serial killer Lonnie David Franklin, better known as the Southside Slayer or the Grim Sleeper, who killed at least ten victims in the 1980s and the early 2000s.
