For several months between late 1977 and 1978, ten women and girls were found raped and strangled, dumped on the hillsides of Los Angeles. Eventually, the culprits were discovered to be a sadistic pair of killers: cousins Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, collectively known in the media as The Hillside Strangler. The case stands as one of very few instances of serial killer teams, and was the basis for several films as well. On today’s grisly livestream, Tom and Jenny are discussing a horrifying quadruple murder that took place in Los Angeles in July of 1981. Variously known as the Wonderland Murders, the Four on the Floor Murders, or the Laurel Canyon Murders, the crime was most likely a retaliation for an earlier drug-related home invasion, and allegedly involved not only one of the most notorious drug dealing gangs in the area, but also a well-known gangster and nightclub owner, and possibly famed porn star John Holmes, otherwise known as Johnny Wadd. The unbelievably violent crime was the subject of the 2003 film Wonderland, starring Val Kilmer, and was also the loose inspiration for the 1997 classic Boogie Nights. Slip into your bell bottoms and don your smoked sunglasses, it’s about to get groovy and gruesome on a LIVE episode 222.

First we’ll talk about “Jolly” Jane Toppan, a nurse in the early 20th century who poisoned dozens of people, supposedly for pleasure; British doctor and prolific serial killer Harold Shipman, who bumped off as many as 250 people out of arrogance and monetary gain; orderly Donald Harvey, who may have killed as many as 87 people; and nurse Beverley Allitt, whose Munchausen by Proxy syndrome led to her killing four children and attempting to kill several others.
