13 O’Clock Episode 304 LIVE: Native American Code Talkers

One of the most important aspects of any battle is being able to communicate information to your allies without that same information falling into the hands of your enemies. In the United States, during both World Wars, one way this was accomplished was through the use of people known as code talkers. A code talker was a person who would use their knowledge of a little-known language in order to encrypt information, and in the US, most of these code talkers were Native Americans, who used their native languages to establish codes for secret communication. The Navajo code talkers are the best known, but several other nations, including Cherokee, Hopi, Lakota, Choctaw, Comanche, Cree, and Mohawk, also contributed to the war effort, and though appreciation of their valuable service was long in coming, the code talkers finally began receiving some recognition in the early 1980s. Join Tom and Jenny on this fascinating journey into somewhat forgotten history on a cryptic and compelling episode 304.

13 O’Clock Episode 266 LIVE: Unit 731

War is hell, but sometimes, things get way more hellish than most human minds can deal with. Case in point: during World War II, the Japanese Kwantung Army established a secret unit that was euphemistically known as the Epidemic Prevention and Water Supply Department. Unbeknownst to most of the world, though, this unit, later called Unit 731, was formed in order to do research into biological weapons, and some of this horrific research included unimaginable experimentation on human subjects, most of them Chinese villagers, all of whom were referred to as “maruta,” or “logs.” Men, women, and children were raped, vivisected, deliberately given diseases, exposed to sub-freezing temperatures for prolonged periods of time, and countless other tortures that remained largely under the radar of the global community until long after the war. Strap in for a grim and gruesome ride on a soul-crushing episode 266.

On this entertaining and mysterious installment, Tom and Jenny delve into two strange cases of aviation disappearances during the 1940s. First, we’ll talk about the infamous Ghost Blimp incident of 1942, where two crewmen mysteriously vanished from the gondola of their blimp while they were on a routine patrol. Then we’ll discuss the creepy and well-known disappearance of Flight 19, a squadron of five planes that became lost and went missing during a training mission off the coast of Florida in 1945, considered a casualty of the Bermuda Triangle. 13 O’Clock Episode 72 – The Russian Sleep Experiment, Plus Tic Tac UFO

It’s the first episode of 2018, and things are about to get REAL creepy. Creepypasta, that is. After a brief and topical discussion of the recent “Tic Tac UFO” story that grabbed the headlines, we’re delving into the story of the infamous Russian Sleep Experiment. According to lore, a group of scientists working in Russia in the 1940s decided to subject a group of men to some extreme sleep deprivation combined with the use of an experimental stimulant gas. Spoiler alert: shit didn’t go too well, and an insane and shocking bloodbath ensued. But did this horrific experiment ever really happen? Tom and Jenny are on the case, so brew up the stimulant of your choice and try to stay awake for episode 72.
